5/8/2003 - The 2003 Conference committee considering CIL funding has been named
(see listing of membership below)

5/1/2003 - The 2003 legislative session ends on May 19th.
The Minnesota Senate has proposed a 100% restoration of our funding, while the
House has proposed a 70% restoration of state funding to CILs. 
In both the House and the Senate there is significant support for Centers for Independent Living
- be sure and thank your local legislators for their support!

2/18/2003 - Governor Pawlenty recommended that
Centers for Independent Living loose ALL state funding

Drive for 75

The National Council for Independent Living is Spearheading the effort to
obtain more funding for Centers for Independent Living on a federal level.  

The Drive for 75/Rehabilitation Act The NCIL Rehabilitation Committee, NCIL staff and NCIL members work with senate and house members to increase the funding for Centers for Independent Living (CIL) - Title VII, Part C of the Rehabilitation Act - by $75 million over the next three years.

MiCASSA

The House and Senate Join Forces Behind Real Choice and MiCASSA ! MiCASSA's house bill number for the 108th Congress is H.R. 2032 And S 971 in the Senate.

The Medicaid Community Attendant Services and Supports Act, MiCASSA, are federal bills that would allow people with disabilities who need long term services and supports to have the Real Choice of getting these services in their own homes and communities instead of nursing homes, state schools and other institutions. 

Everyone, PLEASE call your congressional offices and request your congressperson to sign onto the bill.  We suggested calling the DC office and a local office.  Have the bill number available.
